Fitt Foundation Pilates is the first part of the full CYQ L3 Pilates course
FITT Foundation Certificate in Basic Pilates
To be accepted on to this 5 day accredited course you do not need any recognised fitness instructing qualification, however, Fitt require you to have good literacy and numeracy skills along with experience of participating in Pilates exercise classes.
This accredited course will give you the background knowledge of Joseph Pilates, his teaching, and the basic skills to prepare and deliver a safe, effective beginners mat-based Pilates class. This course is stage 1 of the full CYQ Level 3 Certificate in Teaching Mat Based Pilates.
The qualification comprises of 3 units:
Unit 1 Exercise and Fitness Knowledge
Unit 2 Plan a Beginners Mat-Based Pilates Sessions
Unit 3 Teach and Evaluate Beginners Mat-Based Pilates Sessions
Unit 1 Exercise and Fitness Knowledge
This Unit will give you Exercise and Fitness Knowledge. You will need to start studying for this with 6 weeks of distance learning prior to the practical part of the Foundation Course starting. You will be assessed through an internally written multiple choice exam taken on the first day of your practical course.
Unit 2 Plan a Beginners Mat-Based Pilates Session
In this unit you will learn teaching skills of how to plan evaluate a group session using the fundamental Pilates exercises. You will learn how to apply your anatomy and physiology knowledge to progress and adapt the exercises for individual needs.
This unit will be assessed by written planning.
Unit 3 Teach and Evaluate Beginners Mat-Based Pilates Session
In this unit you will learn teaching skills of how to deliver and evaluate a group session using the fundamental Pilates exercises. A variety of teaching methods will be covered in this section.
This unit will be assessed by written planning, observation of practical teaching and written self-evaluation.
Part two: CYQ Level 3 Certificate in Instructing Mat-Based Pilates
With this 2nd part to the full CYQ accredited L3 Pilates qualification you will be qualified to teach Pilates Mat group classes as well as private one to one Pilates Mat lessons. You will be able to apply for Pilates membership of the Register of Exercise Professionals at Level 3.
This course will develop your knowledge and teaching skills as an advanced Pilates instructor and carries 20 REP points. The qualification comprises of 4 units:
Unit 1 Level 3 Certificate in Advanced Exercise and Fitness Knowledge
Unit 2 Principles and Fundamentals of Mat-Based Pilates
Unit 3 Plan and prepare to instruct a progressive mat Pilates session
Unit 4 Instruct, manage, adapt and evaluate a mat Pilates session.
To be accepted onto this 2nd part of the full CYQ L3 Pilates 5 day course you will need the FITT Foundation Certificate in Basic Pilates or a recognised Level 2 Mat-Based Pilates Certificate.
Unit 1 Level 3 Certificate in Exercise and Fitness Knowledge
This Unit will give you the CYQ Level 3 Exercise and Fitness Knowledge Certificate. The studying for this unit is a continuation and development of your distance learning prior to the practical part of the Level 3 Course starting. It will be assessed through an external written multiple choice exam taken on the first day of the practical course.
Unit 2 Principles and Fundamentals of Mat-Based Pilates
In this unit you will develop your teaching skills to a higher level applying your advanced anatomy and physiology knowledge to progress and adapt the exercises for periodised one to one training.
Unit 3 Plan and Prepare to Instruct a Progressive Mat Pilates Session
This unit will give you the ability to plan your sessions incorporating all your newly gained knowledge
Unit 4 Instruct, Manage, Adapt and Evaluate a Mat Pilates Session.
This unit will give you the knowledge of how to apply advanced teaching skills to a one to one mat-based Pilates programme.
Units 2, 3 and 4 are assessed through written planning, case study, observation of practical teaching and written self-evaluation.
You will gain 20 REPs points on completion of this course.
